Little Pattern Basics | AI Tut - How to Rotate & Scale a Pattern Swatch

I hope everyone is staying warm right now! The record cold temps we are having in the US have been a shock to my system this week, lol!  Yesterday we had a high of 9 degrees here in New York State - brrr!!

I have a lot to tell you about today, so grab a drink and get ready!  You won't want to miss the new goods, tutorial, coupon and freebie!

Tutorial:

I have been using Illustrator for a couple of years, but it's mostly been a self-taught, fly by the seat of my pants kind of thing.  I google what it is that I want to do and figure it out from there. Anyone else do this? A couple of weeks ago, I figured out an easy way to rotate and scale patterns.  I can't believe how much time this has saved me - and it allows me to easily reuse patterns that I already have, and give them a new look!  Now it may be that I'm the only one on the planet that doesn't know about this trick  (in which case I'll ask you to kindly just ignore me, lol) so I thought I'd show you how to do it too.  You can find it here or click on the image below.

New to the Market:

Little Pattern Basics will help you get out of your pattern rut and add some quick and easy basic patterns to your Digital Scrapbook Kit designs!  These could  just be your new little black dress of designing - you know the one you reach for over and over, but dress up with new accessories - because it goes with everything?

These png overlays will make paper designing a breeze and look great in both multicolor or tone-on-tone designs. Patterns include houndstooth, wavy lines, herringbone, arrows, hexagon and chevron styles.

Fundraising Update

For the past couple of weeks, I have been talking about Mye De Leon.  If you've missed it, she recently gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. She also found out that he needs surgery very soon to repair a hole in his heart. Her family only has a short time to raise those funds- $12,500. Read her story on her blog. I also let you know that I will be giving her 100% of any purchases (less fees) made before 2/15/13 of our Christmas collab to help her family.  Thanks to YOU, I was able to send her $45 last week.  Thank you.  From the bottom of my heart.  I know it's only a small dent in the massive amount that she needs to collect, but every single little bit helps.

I wanted to update you with how the fund raising is going.  She has set up an Indiegogo fundraising account for donations.  As of this writing, it has collected $7,780!  I have also been told that An Innocent Heart - charity collab has also been selling well.  The collab and the fundraiser are only available for a few more days, so if you were thinking of helping, now would be a great time!   Check out her new store and blog services available.  If you would like to donate to her directly, you can find that information on her Facebook page.

Over 100 designers came together to try to raise even more funds.  We put together this MASSIVE collab, An Innocent Heart and the money raised will go to help Mye and her family.  Please help if you can.

Thank you!

Thank you so much for reading the Happy Scrap Girl Designs blog and for supporting me. I have a little gift for you that coordinates with Little Pattern Basics.  There is a herringbone pattern in the full size product - with rounded edges.  This one has squared edges on each shape.

Enjoy!  I hope you have a wonderful and WARM week!!
